Onimusha: Way of the Sword Walkthrough — All 22 Main Missions
The full main mission list for Onimusha: Way of the Sword — all 22 missions in order, story length (20–25 hours), where the bosses land, and the point of no return at Mission 22.
Short answer
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is built from 22 main missions, not numbered chapters. A story-focused run takes about 20–25 hours depending on difficulty; side content pushes a fuller playthrough toward 30+ hours. The final mission, The Clash at Rendaino, triggers a point of no return — finish your Kyoto business before you start it.
[MULTI-PLAYER] Length figures converge across G2A, TimeSaver, and Dot Esports post-launch coverage; mission list from Space4Games’ progress guide.

If you played the demo
The public demo covered the game’s opening stretch: the Kiyomizu-dera grounds and the Sasaki Ganryu stage duel. Nothing from the demo carries over — the release version starts fresh at Mission 1 — but the combat instincts do. If you cleared the demo, the first real wall is still Ganryu, and the parry discipline you built is the right tool for him.

Kyoto is a hub, not an open world
After the linear opening, Kyoto becomes a larger zone you revisit as abilities unlock. Civilian rescues, blocked corruption routes, and shrines are the reasons to come back between missions. If a path looks sealed, look for Oni Bow interactions or environmental tells before assuming you missed a key — and see the Kyoto exploration and upgrades guide for what is worth doing between missions.
If you are stuck
| Symptom | First thing to try |
|---|---|
| Dying to regular enemies | Slow down; parry one telegraphed swing instead of trading hits |
| Ganryu feels unfair | Scout two attempts, then commit to deflect timing under pressure |
| Path looks sealed | Check for Oni Bow / environmental tells first |
| Boss deletes you in one string | Treat the first attempts as scouting; spend Red Souls on a defensive skill |
| Mid-game damage feels too low | You are probably skipping skill unlocks — see the stones & skills guide |
