Daidara Boss Guide: Soul Race and Club Sweeps
Daidara - Slavering Glutton in Onimusha: Way of the Sword: wide club attacks, the soul-absorption race, and what to do if the boss powers up.
Why this fight is different
Daidara is not only a large health bar. Preview footage makes the encounter memorable because the boss can absorb souls too.
Area context: Oni Refuge guide
Core threats
- wide club sweeps
- charging pressure
- very high damage if a heavy hit connects
Attacks are readable. Greed is what gets people killed.
The soul race
When souls are on the field, you are making two decisions:
- survive the current swing
- absorb before Daidara does, but only in a safe window
If the boss consumes enough, its stomach swells and it powers up. Preview coverage says attacking the enlarged stomach can dump stolen souls back onto the field.
Recommended approach
- Do not chase souls through an incoming swing
- Bait a committed attack, then take the resource window
- If it powers up, wait for a real opening on the stomach instead of panicking into it
Common failures
- standing too close after a sweep
- absorbing while a charge is already starting
- tilting after the boss steals souls
- overcommitting to the stomach
The fight is an early reminder that returning Onimusha systems can become boss-specific problems. Resource awareness matters as much as reaction speed.
